Book Description

A practical guide for all those wishing to shoot traditional archery equipment, in the instinctive style, that is without sighting aids, stabilisers, cams or wheels, including information for those who wish to make their own kit.

From the Author

I have been shooting and making traditional archery equipment since 1986, and have been a full member of the Craft Guild of Traditional Bowyers and Fletchers for much of that time. I make bows and arrows professionally, including English and American Longbows, primitive bows and bows to prehistoric designs; I have learnt much from my own practical experience as well as from experienced archers and from sheer enjoyment of this fascinating subject. All this I hope to pass on in this book to newcomers or existing archers starting out on the traditional path.

The publisher, Hilary Greenland , 27 October, 2000

Written by a member of the Craft Guild of Bowyer's and Fletchers in the UK, this is a guide for those starting out on archery's traditional path. Information on selecting traditional bows (longbows flatbows and simple recurves); their design, tuning and care is included, and for those interested in the practical side, details on making arrows, strings and all-wood bows to traditional designs are included.
